Not content with taxing damn near everything, some lawmakers are looking into vanity taxes:
Lawmakers trying to plump up the bottom line are considering a “vanity tax” on cosmetic surgery and Botox injections in Washington, Illinois and other states.

Doesn’t this qualify as a use tax? I thought libertarians liked use taxes…

I think of use taxes as taxes on the use of things that are somehow supported with public funds. For instance, a tax on gas pays for roads, a fishing license pays for waterways and re-stocking, etc.
Unless the breast implants are Army surplus, I don’t that would apply. 🙂

Since we don’t live in libertarian utopia, the research that enabled breast implants to be developed was almost certainly paid for in part by the government. 😉
