Apparently the teachers were afraid to restrain her physically, either from fear of lawsuits or because there actually are too-rigid state laws against teachers manhandling students. But calling the cops is not a good option – they’re trained to deal rather ungently with much larger criminals, not to handle kindergarten tantrums.
What would I suggest? Not being allowed to defend yourself or prevent your work area from being destroyed is an intolerable work condition. As in, I wouldn’t work there. If I did work there, I’d be hunting another job – and also in the case of a union job (which all public schools are), I’d really, really wonder why the union doesn’t call a strike.

Under no circumstance should police be involved in an elementary school unless there is a crime commited. I do feel the little girl needs the shite beat out of her as a wake up call, but as seen in the video she completely calmed down when she saw the officers there. They should have made her go clean up the rooms, appologize, and if she did not comply contact child and family services to take the child into custody. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCE SHOULD A 4 YEAR OLD BE HANDCUFFED! BRING BACK CORPERAL PUNISHMENT!
