The Geek, who doesn’t like giving his info to retailers, tells Best Buy where to go. This is the same reason I don’t shop at Radio Shack. Of course, if I need something from either store that I can’t get elsewhere (which is usually odd sizes of batteries from Radio Shack), I just lie and tell them I’m I.P. Freely and I reside at 123 Any Street.

Somebody had a good suggestion: memorize the store’s address and phone number and use that. See if the clerk notices.

Actually, Radio Shack asks, but does not (and has never) required it.
Lately, I’ve noticed that they’ve stopped asking.

I usually give out the name “Hans Klugscheisser,” which sounds like just another boring German name to the moron who asks for it, but actually means something akin to “Stanley Smartass” [klug = clever, scheisser = shitter].

Radio Shack asks sometimes because they’ll mail you a catalog, if you want one. The last 15 years I’ve been giving them my employer’s address – I can’t remember the last time I spent my own money there, but I’ve spent company money, when having the part today overrides considerations of price and quality…
