Dirty pool
A wannabe journalist at the local not-so-alt-weekly Metropulse named Brian Conley was threatening to out Bubba’s secret identity. Bubba beat him to the punch and published the info at his blog to indicate he wouldn’t be threatened by some little piss ant.
Anyway, the action was uncalled for and The Metropulse will no longer serve as packing material here at the Uncle house. And I will not support businesses that advertise there.

Conley is a pansy…he used the “fluff piece” excuse to get back at SKB for all the times SKB has “dared to criticize” Conleys exploits. I dont plan on picking up a new Pulse anytime in the near future.

If you have any old copies around and the names of any advertisers happen to jump out at you, I wouldn’t be adverse to sending a few of them my thoughts about what it is they are supporting.
Someone posted the definition of ‘blackmail’ at SKB; if the shoe fits.

Uncle, this is something we agree on. The MP does fit almost perfectly in one of the 4 birdcages. All the news that’s fit to poop on.

That’s horrible.
BTW, does Xrlq blog anonymously? Someone posted his full name in a comment on my blog, and I censored it because I wasn’t sure. We should all respect anonymity.

Don’t think so. I know (or think I do) his name.

Agree completely. Conley seems to me like a little fish in a little pond who’s decided he’s king of the ocean. As for the MP piece that triggered all this, it’s my new working definition of “sophomoric.” It was kind of a hoot in its own completely unintended way. What a shame it actually had consequences.

Seems Xrlq is just semi-anonymous — but he’s put pix of himself, babies, etc, up, so all it might do is dissuade the casual annoyer.

Tgirsch, I appreciate your being proactive. While I’m not completely anonymous (obviously), I do like to keep a relatively low profile as to my real last name, though my real first name (Jeff) is prominently displayed on the front page of my blog. Anyone really wanting to know my full name can find it, but he’ll have to dig around a while first. That’s good enough for me, but it probably wasn’t good enough for Bubba, and a pox on Conley for pushing it.
Assuming your commenter is who I think he is (first name commonly associated with male genitalia, last name shared with a drug czar cum talk show windbag with a gambling problem), then certainly his intent in posting my full name (and Patterico’s in other fora) was basically the same as that of this Conley creep. The main difference is that unlike Conley, no commercial print medium actually pays Mr. Cabeza to act out like he does.

Add Brian Leiter – a law professor, of all things – to the list of jerks who threaten and/or attempt to out anonymous bloggers who dare to disagree with them.
