Neat concept
From Deb, we learn that a law awaiting the governor’s signature in NC will require clerks to give people requesting restraining orders information on a concealed weapons permit. Cool. Paper protection often isn’t worth the paper it’s written on.

If I recall that bill is the gutted form. The original bill (if it’s the one I’m thinking of) required sheriff’s to issue expedited permits. In committee the “shall” was replaced with “may” which had no effect from current CCW law in NC. Plus in NC Jim Crow still lives & you have ot get a permit from your sheriff to buy a handgun even through a private transaction. That’d be a two week to several months wait based on what I & my pals had to go through. So telling them the process is a good thing but it’d be much better if the process didn’t take a few weeks minimum. It be best still if there was no process at all.
