You’d think they’d learn
Every time a state considers passing concealed carry weapons laws, some newspaper goes out and does research to conclude that such a plan is a bad idea. And, by research, I mean they go to all the anti-gun websites and repeat the propaganda listed there. The Wisconsin State Journal is doing it now:
To understand how dangerously foolhardy it would be for Wisconsin to adopt a law permitting people to carry concealed guns, consider what happened this spring in Minnesota, which adopted a similar law.
According to second-degree murder charges, drunken 26-year-old Zachary Ourada was harassing women at a Minneapolis restaurant. Doorman Billy Walsh asked Ourada to leave. Ourada then pulled out a concealed gun and shot Walsh four times in the back, killing the 43-year-old father of three. When police apprehended Ourada, he was reported to have shouted: “I didn’t do nuthin’ wrong. I got a permit to carry that (gun).”
Indeed, Ourada had a permit along with an obviously perverted sense of right and wrong. It was a tragic combination.
Only problem is that it is a lie. Mr. Ourada left the bar and returned 30 to 45 minutes later with a gun. He was not carrying at the bar and CCW is not responsible for the death of Billy Walsh. The rest of the article is premised on that one incident, which the author is, basically, full of shit about.
Liar.

Hey, now, you live in a CCW state. Admit it: You get in gunfights over the good parking spots at Kroger all the time.
I can’t believe thimble-headed gherkins like the knob that penned that editiorial don’t asphyxiate from forgetting to breathe…

If he left, got a gun, and came back, why is the charge only 2nd degree murder?

The Personal Protection Act is Frought with Gun Control, according to WGO it would:
• Registering gun owners in a Department of Justice (DOJ) database, treating gun
owners like criminals
• Forcing gun owners to beg the DOJ for their carry permit
• Forcing gun owners to pay a fee to exercise a God-given right (would you pay
to exercise freedom of speech, religion, or the press?)
• Creating “No-Carry-Allowed” areas that will be off limits to law-abiding
citizens who carry
• Creating Cops-Only CCW – once cops become retired, they become regular
citizens, not a special class of citizen. They should be able to carry because they are citizens, not because they were cops

Hell, yeah. Wouldn’t you? I wish $60 every four years, a weekend class and a little paperwork were all it took to get the government to exempt me from McCain-Feingold.

[…] Sounds horrible, doesn’t it. Only problem is that the State Journal left out one major fact about the incident. You see, some of us covered the incident a while back, and Ourada was not carrying at the bar. He left, went home and returned 30 – 40 minutes later with a weapon before murdering the doorman. The implication is that some CCW permit holder blew some dude away while packing and that’s not the case. […]
