Kristol on TDS
Last night, Bill Kristol was on The Daily Show. Bill Kristol, who is probably the only guy I’ve seen on the show shorter than Jon Stewart, was getting ribbed pretty hard. Why do I bring it up? Well, Kristol predicted that Miers would withdraw her nomination. Here’s hoping.
Update: Oh yeah, one funny bit was when Stewart said something to the effect of:
You guys have been waiting for this for a long time. You have the house, senate, presidency and the court. You must be very disappointed at the administration’s lack of competence.
Heh.

Even funnier, Kristol seemed to agree.

BTW, I think you’re forgetting about Robert Reich.

My personal prediction is that Miers will withdraw under cover of a minor but inconsequential scandal. She’ll develop the equivalent of a nanny problem– something that gives her an out without actually tainting her image in the eyes of anybody that cares.
Miers has no kids, so no nanny issues for her. So I wonder what kind of minor skeleton could be leaked from the back of her closet? In typical fashion, Democrats will overplay their hand in condemning her on it and she’ll be able to withdraw while the Dems look foolish.

Brutal Hugger:
I’m not so sure about that. It seems that the objections from Conservatives over Miers are louder than those from Democrats. I’m sure the Democrats can find a way to screw this up — they always seem to — but I don’t think it will go down like that.
