Indictment or egg on face
Everyone is linking to this, so I will too:
An uber-insider source has just reported the following to TWN (since confirmed by another independent source):
1. 1-5 indictments are being issued. The source feels that it will be towards the higher end.
2. The targets of indictment have already received their letters.
3. The indictments will be sealed indictments and “filed” tomorrow.
4. A press conference is being scheduled for Thursday.
Could be. But it could also be that blog credibility takes a hit if this is not the case.

I don’t claim any special insight or secret source, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see no indictments whatsoever.
I remember too well all the leaks that claimed indictments of the Clintons were “imminent” or “inevitable” during the 1990’s.
I’ll bet 90% of these “leaks” are just reporters talking out of their asses.

Can Cheney be indicted, or is impeachment the only method for trying a P and VP?

Concerning Cpt. Holly, I think it is 50/50 about indictments. In other words, I, like most reporters and talking heads, have no freaking clue.
And concerning Persimmon: A President or Veep can be indicted, tried, convicted, sentenced, and still not be impeached. Highly unlikely, but possible, for the impeachment process described in the Constitution is completely separate from the normal criminal system. The other side of that coin is that a Prez or Veep can be impeached for no other reason than the House and Senate simply wants to. Again highly unlikely, but there is no ban against it in the Constitution.

Lee, it may be 50/50 it may not, but on one note your clearly wrong – NO REPORTER OR TALKING HEAD (not most) has a freaking clue.
A grand jury proceeding is a closed, secret proceeding. No one knows but those present inside the grand jury room – the prosecutor, the judge and the members of the jury itself. Anyone who doesn’t fit in one of those three categories and claims any knowledge of what is going to happen is simply lying and has ZERO credibility
Of course, I’ve already pointed out where I think blogging jumped the shark long ago, so I just ain’t too surprised to see so many people claiming so much knowledge that they could never possibly have.

Since no announcement will be made today (Thursday), I think it’s safe to say that Steve Clemens of The Washington Note and his “uber-insider source” are full of shit.
I’m standing by my original prediction: No indictments. A year from now, no one will even remember who Scooter Libby was.
