No kidding
Americans remain strongly committed to protecting private property from the possibility of unjust seizure, according to the results of a nationwide survey released today by the American Farm Bureau Federation during the organization’s annual convention.
The poll shows, regardless of geographical, partisan and other demographic differences, Americans are unified nearly 2-to-1 against government use of eminent domain to take private property, except in limited circumstances such as when the public at large would clearly benefit from a new road, electric utility or similar project.
Likewise, 83 percent of Americans oppose the use of eminent domain to further private development initiatives. Seizure for private development was the issue at the heart of the Kelo v. New London, Conn., case decided by the U.S. Supreme Court last year. That case made national headlines when the high court ruled that property could be taken from one landowner to advance the economic development efforts of another private entity.
It’s a good thing so many oppose it. Maybe politicos and talking heads will pay attention.

many have opposed this action, going back as far as land ownership records have existed. strong, continued opposition is crucial.

Hmmm, I never realized that the poor and middle class population ranked 2 to 1 against the rich. Interesting!
The ones that support taking of private property have a name, they are called Communist.

Blounttruth,
I don’t like ’em either, but they aren’t communists. They are using legal BS to take possession of property which they then develop (or redevelop) and resell for profit.
I’d call ’em fences. The politicians that actively or passively permit this, for big fat ‘campaign donations’ or what have you, are the thieves.
Knoxville recently brought this issue up (protecting against eminent domain) and it was shot down.
Name the council members that voted to keep their power to steal. Publicise, posterise, pass out flyers. Not much else you can do against people using the color of law to line their pockets.

I am in court fighting my local government for my land and home. Why? My local government is trying to take my property rights because they contaminated my groundwater and they do not want to have to comply with the environmental laws. In other words, they knowingly broke the law, and now to keep from having to complying with the consequences of breaking the law, they want to take my property rights.
Is this Nazi Germany? The Nazi’s first move against Jews and anyone else who opposed them was to seize their property. Then they took their lives.
