So much for the praises of BB&T
I sang their praises regarding their policy of not loaning to developers who get their property via eminent domain. It’s a good thing. Sadly, they post signs saying you can’t carry weapons in their Virginia branches. I won’t be switching banks after all.
I’m fully aware it’s their right to post such a sign but it’s my right not to patronize their place of business.

Seriously, there are banks that do not post such signs?

so who is your current bank and what is their policy on lending to private developers who abuse eminent domain? And what is their policy on allowing guns in their branches?
Personally, I’ve sworn off of choosing companies based on their political policies.

Cinomed, yes.
Manish, probably a good rule.

One word: Credit Unions.

“Seriously, there are banks that do not post such signs?”
I don’t recall ever seeing such a sign in a bank in Washington State. While I suspect such signs do exist somewhere, I cannot recall ever seeing one in any building aside from some government facilities.

One Acronym: USAA.
I wonder if their prohibition of firearms allows them some sort of angle on people who bring guns into a bank vis-a-vis tort action???

you know honestly I don’t have a CHL so I don’t generally pay attention to the signs as much as I probably should. (Rambuntious youth bars me from CHL in Texas)
Most places I tend to go have alcohol sold there so the sign is always there (Sounds bad I know)
I just rarely ever go INTO a bank.
I think I am with Manish though, sure the occasional “I don’t like X company for Z reason” is ok, last time I tried to catalouge them all it was insane.

You mean there are banks somewhere that allow customers to bring guns into their branches?
One word: Credit Unions
Credit unions allow guns?
January 26th, 2006 at 7:01 pm
I’ve never noticed a “no guns” sign on my credit union. And for what it’s worth, the gun banning bank Wachovia wasn’t anti-gun until they were bought by First Union and adopted their anti-gun policy.
Regardless, a no-guns sign doesn’t work. If it did, why not just put up a “no robbing allowed” sign.

if it’s a concealed weapon, who in the hell is going to know that you have a gun in the bank in the first place?
January 28th, 2006 at 5:55 am
Probably a little late, but there’s such a thing as concealed metal detectors.
