Nemerov on Schumer and Clinton’s plan
Noting that the police really have no need to track other guns, sold by the same dealer when a crime gun is found, Nemerov opines:
Senators Schumer and Clinton wish to manufacture a crisis, using the death of two police officers to promote their own agenda of creating a registration database: the next step necessary to institute a national policy of civilian disarmament.
Some other smart cracker said something similar a while back.

How about this part: “For instance, if police report a stolen gun used in a crime in New York to the ATF, local law enforcement could learn where that gun was first sold…”
Why? So they can go harass the purchaser who reported that gun stolen a long time ago? What’s the logic here? (Yep, I know what it is – I’d just like to get some gun-grabber to admit it publicly.)
Isn’t it possible for ATF to run down that information, anyway? It’s just that instead of having a central database to (ab)use, they’ve got to trace the gun dealer and ask him to look it up. It’s barely enough of a hassle to provide us some protection against gun-hating politicians using the records and the police to harass law-abiding gun owners.
