If I’m not mistaken, the new court makeup would reaffirm Roe 5-4, but would overturn Casey (“partial birth” abortion bans) by the same margin. While this would not criminalize abortion outright, it would have the effect of elevating the importance of the fetus above the interests (including the health) of the woman carrying it.
But as David Cross sardonically points out, it’s not as big a deal as some are making it out to be, given technological advancements such as plastic-tipped coat-hangers.

My understanding is that these states are considering flat-out abortion bans, not anything more nuanced like a partial-birth abortion ban, which would have easily passed muster under Roe or Casey, and would likely be upheld today.
