Shocking!
Policeman shoots self in leg. But not with a Glock:
Ted Arhangelsky was participating in a certification course when he shot himself with a .45-caliber semi-automatic handgun while at the Sheriff’s Office’s shooting range south of Hiwasse, according to Deputy Doug Gay, spokesman for the Sheriff’s Office.
There were several firearm instructors and two paramedics at the range when the accident happened, Gay said.
The firearm automatically cocks the hammer after each round is fired, and Arhangelsky started to holster the weapon after firing it, but without uncocking the hammer. Somehow, the trigger was pulled or the hammer was knocked down onto the round, causing it to fire, Gay said.
Not sure what kind it was but you can’t decock a Glock, without pulling the trigger.

“Arhangelsky, who works in the Benton County Jail, was taking the course to gain certification as a part-time II deputy, which would allow him to carry a firearm while on duty, Gay said.”
I guess (hope) that he didn’t pass and they won’t “allow him to carry a firearm while on duty”.

I wonder if this was a “pass” or a “fail.”
Either way they will let him re-test, but I am betting it’s a “pass”.

Unc,
It could have been a Glock. No wait – considering the MSM’s stellar reputation for researching & accurately reporting technical aspects in firearms related stories they must have know what they were talking about when they said the hammer wasn’t properly uncocked. They just didn’t name the model because they figured everyone would know it’s not a Glock from their accurate description. Now I just need to find me one of those 38mm fully automatic revolvers. 🙂
I’m just saying – as much as they’ve screwed up in the past I wouldn’t assume they knew what the hell they were talking about now.
& to be painfully honest I know a lot of gun owners who couldn’t accurately describe how their favorite firearm functions to a non-gun nut (or even a gun nut in some cases). Even if the reporter quoted accurately (which I’m sure some bookie in vegas has odds on) there’s no guarantee that the person they quoted knew what he was talking about.
Course it very well might not have been a Glock. I’m just sayin…

“Somehow, the trigger was pulled or the hammer was knocked down onto the round, causing it to fire…”
Oh brother. I better watch that my hammer doesn’t get knocked down onto the round. Seems like it must have been a Bryco that they’re issuing to cops to save tax money for gun registrations or something.
