Interesting quote from VPC rep.
In the post below the story of Tucson Police Lt. Michael Lara was told. What I found so interesting in the article was a quote by the rep from VPC.
The ATF representative present at the hearing did not address Lara’s case, but Kristen Rand, legislative director for the anti-gun Violence Policy Center, did.
“Mr. [sic] Lara’s situation sounds extremely unpleasant,” Rand said, “but we should be careful not to just legislate based on one anecdote.”
This from a group who regularly uses single “anecdote”s to push their views and to attempt to legislate all the time.

What are the gun control laws for carring into a stripclub, or after hours club. I worked at one and was shot by someone with a carry permit.

Depends on the state, Justin. And how did you know the person had a carry permit? If the shooting wasn’t justified, I can guarantee at the very least he doesn’t have one any more.

What a whitewash of trashing the poor Lt.’s life by calling it just “extremely unpleassant” – and they certainly know it’s NOT just one anecdote – there’s a file cabinet full of them and they know it!

The problem isn’t using an anecdote to affect legislation; the problem is using an appropriate and applicable anecdote.
They have no problem using anecdotes that have nothing to do with the subject…as long as they can milk it for an emotional response.
A guy uses a shotgun to perpetrate a crime? Make “assault weapons” illegal.
Someone perpetrates a crime with a handgun that they stole from a police car? Close the “gun show loophole”.
A person with a ten year history of violent crime commits murder? Eliminate the ability of law abiding citizens to arm themselves.
