Carry permit in Maryland
Pro-Gun Progressive has more details on applying for a CCW permit in his not shall-issue state. Most striking to me:
They also wanted a letter from my manager explaining my duties as an outside sales rep; the letter also had to state that he didn’t have a problem with my carrying and transporting a handgun.
Yes, that’s correct. Another private citizen may have sway in determining whether you can get a concealed carry permit.

I hadn’t really thought about it until after I posted that…but yeah, isn’t that just INSANE? Even after I jump through all the hoops required to get a permit here…I still need my boss (who lives and works in Philadelphia, 90 minutes up the road, BTW) to give me permission.
Maryland is insane. Period.
As far as I’m concerned, MD is criminally liable for what happens to so many of its citizens: they force us to be disarmed in the face of an epidemic of robbery and murder. We’re the second most violent state in the union…and we’re forcibly disarmed. That’s criminal in my book.

Sebastian,
You’re correct. Maryland is obviously depriving their citizens of their basic civil right of armed self-defense. It’s criminal and tyranical.

Are we not men? We are children, in Maryland.
I suppose that if you’re president of a brand new corporation it’ be a breeze.

“…Another private citizen may have sway in determining whether you can get a concealed carry permit.”
And if the “citizen” wasn’t PRIVATE that would make some difference???

The problem isn’t that they asked his boss about carrying a gun while taking cash deposits to the bank in the process of investigating whether he really needed a CCW – it’s that they asked him why he needed a CCW.
Let’s see how this would look in Vermont: You don’t have to ask the government for permission to carry. However, if your employer has a problem with you carrying while out on company business, you should comply – by finding a job with someone who values your life more than a stickup man’s.

Heh. It doesn’t matter how many permission slips you get, in Maryland the answer is always no. Unless of course you are one of the political or celebrity priviledged class.
The hoops they have you jump through serve only to discourage applications, and provide them with more reasons to deny your permit.
