The trains still go
Apparently, a bunch of immigrants took the day off. Other than news accounts telling me so, I haven’t noticed.

“Apparently, a bunch of immigrants took the day off.”
Back up the PC truck, hoss. It’s illegal aliens who were allegedly going to take today off…

Air quality is bound to improve what with the dropoff in bean and burrito products.

Nothing out of the ordinary here that I’ve noticed. Of course illegals in Utah are less numerous, and hence less vocal, than they are in other places.

I also must add that since I mow my own lawns, brown-bag for lunch, don’t employ a nanny, don’t own a pool, and plan to install my own sprinkler system, it probably will be quite a while before I notice any dearth of Mexicans.

I noticed that there were only half as many day-laborers out in front of the 7-11 this morning. They also closed the local burger joint.

I just noticed an effect: The latino lady in the other office is not here, presumably in “solidarity” with the illegals. Hence, they just came to get me to translate for a Spanish-speaking client.
Which means that yeah, we noticed she was gone, but no, it didn’t shut us down. So if improved border security means getting rid of a pro-immigrant leftist, then I’m all for it.

Hmm my lawn got mowed today and was still able to run errands, buy gas and do all the stuff I normally do. For all the talk on the radio you would think there were throngs in the streets but I didnt see a damn thing.

Oh yeah, there was a 2nd gen mexican-american guy at work who was missing today, but I think he might have been at a client thing, so I’m not sure he counts. I’ll ask tomorrow.
All the actual immigrants (H1B engineers and the like) showed up today. They resent the illegals for getting citizenship just for showing up while it takes them 7 years working slave wages with a college education to get a mere green card.

I had the most glorious trip to WalMart EVER today. Heck, I’m going back again tonight. Stock up, ya know.

Boycott Mexico! No products, no tourism. I daresay we can hit them harder than they can hit us.

Your either bullshiting or the H1Bs in your company are ill-informed. None of the proposals on Congress involve anyone gaining citizenship immediately. The most immigrant-friendly bill involves 8 years of work, paying a fine, learning english and a few other things before getting a green card. Having said that, the compromise bill in the Senate has some much needed reform measures that would be wonderful if applied to H1-B’s like employer portability. As I see it, legal immigrants (like myself) have little political power to get anything to change for the better for us. If the illegals get a better system, its a springboard for us to get something even better (or quite frankly join the illegals program rather than the H1-B program).

I hadn’t noticed.
I did see a couple of immigrants, but they were of the legal variety, and shopping at the Armory.
