I hereby condemn myself
In light of all the nonsense on blogs about condemning people for what they say or not condemning them for what they say, I (at the urging of reader Wes) hereby condemn myself for saying:
Here’s hoping they turn all their ammo in first.
Of course, I’ve said worse and thought better of it.
Feel free to condemn me too for my excessive hyperbole.
Update: Also condemn my self for anything I said in the past. And I issue a preemptive condemnation of anything I say in the future.

In light of the fact that I myself am the proud owner of one of Misha’s infamous “Rope, Tree, Journalist, Some Assembly Required” T-shirts, I hereby request that you condemn me too. Fair’s fair, after all. And I condemn myself, for that matter. Wouldn’t want to be a hypocrite or anything…
Now if we can only get Glenn Greenwald to condemn you, too, you’ll have it made. What with a Glenn Greenwald condemnation being the blogosphere’s newest badge of honor and all…
Seriously, that comment of mine was intended to illustrate what I saw as the absurd arguments of a couple of other commenters on the whole Greenwald thing. And I think the question I posed then still stands: What do you do when, in the final extreme, the officials elected or appointed above you behave with complete disregard for personal liberty, the laws or the Constitution? Thomas Jefferson had, as I recall, a little something to say on the care and feeding of the tree of liberty…a comment so “extreme” as to put “Rope, tree, judge” or “Give ’em the ammo first” to shame.
No doubt Greenwald’s condemnation of Jefferson will be forthcoming.

We should probably condemn the right-wing militia nuts at Lexington and Concord for violently “turning in” their ammo in 1775.

Can I be condemned too?
I’m sure I deserve it.

Consider yourself condemned then.
As punishment, you are hereby ordered to expend at least 1,000 rounds of your choice of ammunition through your choice of weapon at your choice of range.
It is, after all, you condemnation.
You must do your part to ensure that those 1,000+ rounds of ammunition are never used in an inappropriate manner. The only way to be *certain* of that is to expend them in an appropriate manner.
Now get busy condemning yourself.
