Top 50
Though perhaps slightly off-topic completely on-topic for this blog, I can’t resist mentioning the Observer’s list of 50 great albums. What sets this list apart from all the other Top 50s out there is that it ranges widely through many styles and also lists the acts that descended from these ground breakers.
I’m missing a bunch of these albums. Maybe I’ll work my way through them. The list covers musical styles I normally avoid, but the seminal work of a genre is usually pretty good, no matter what your normal tastes are.

Off topic? We have a pop culture category. BTW, I only own 7 of those. I’m just not hip.

Fixed the category and such.
I own about half. I love music.

17. It would’ve been 18 if I’d bought the Spice Girls album (WTF?).
Of those albums the ones I’d still listen to would be Stone Roses, Dark Side, London Calling, Bob Marley, Marvin Gaye, The Smiths, and Nirvana.
For some of the others like Hendrix and The Who, I’d rather listen to a different album by the same artist. Who’s Next and The Kids are Alright instead of My Generation. Electric Ladyland instead of Are You Experienced.

I didn’t make it all the way through the list. Once I saw the Spice Girls eight spots higher than Dark Side of the Moon, I knew I’d better close the browser or risk permanent damage to my laptop.

Typical Brit list.
It has some necessary entries, but is cluttered with nonsense.
As for me, I am going to hear the top C & W lyricist of the last 30 years tonight – namely, David Allan Coe.
“I ain’t no hick song writer, I’m a pretty deep thinker.”
I wonder if he will play “F*** You Anita Bryant”.

Is “Fuck You Anita Bryant” what passes for deep thinking in the country western world?
