Kenneth Walker Update
Kenneth Walker, who was unarmed and laying on the ground, took two rounds from an H&K MP-5 submachine gun in the back of the head. The officer who shot him claims he tripped (if that’s the case, it’s a somber reminder to keep your booger hook off the bang switch). Chuck has past coverage of the incident here.
It’s being reported that the city of Columbus, Georgia is considering a settlement in the civil suit filed by Mr. Walker’s family. The settlement being considered is reportedly to be seven figures.

An H&K MP-5 submachiine gun?? Hey, I thought they wanted to get “assault weapons off the street”! Oh, that’s right. That only apply to free citizens not their peace officers and other public servants and gorment agents.

After all, they’re the only ones professional enough to use those kinds of weapons.
Out of curiosity, when’s the last time you heard of a citizen accidentally shooting someone twice? In the head? From behind?

dave: It’s a submachine gun. In full-auto, negligent discharges are going to involve more than one round. The negligence comes in carrying a weapon with your finger on the trigger – full-auto just compounds that.

Hmmm …. the only question unasked is “If a lwfully armed citizen ( who is not a “sworn” oficer ) claimed accidental shooting to death by tripping, just what do you think the response would be?
