H.R. 5013

I’m sure gun blog readers know that the Senate passed the bill that bans confiscation of weapons during emergencies. But I’d be a ban gun blogger if I didn’t mention it. Kopel has the text and discussion of the bill.

One Response to “H.R. 5013”

  1. Standard Mischief Says:

    Weak law.

    1) if they take your guns, you can sue, later, and get reasonable attorney fees. If they give you you guns back the moment you file, once the courthouse is finally reopened, they will only have to pay a bit. There are no punitive damages.

    2) no criminal charges included in the law for rouge, body slamming thungs from another state police force.

    3) as stated by the commenters,

‘‘(3) prohibit possession of any firearm, or promulgate any rule, regulation, or order prohibiting possession of any firearm, in any place or by any person where such possession is not otherwise prohibited by Federal, State, or local law; or

Meaning, we need strong laws at the state and local level too.

Man, this is mostly a “feel good” law. I’m sooo glad that they “did something” before they recessed to go campaigning.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
