Democrats and guns
Can anyone name a U.S. political party that openly says, “We are opposed to the people having the right to keep and bear arms.”? Certainly there are individual politicians that work to subvert it and are openly for gun control. But they don’t dare make it a party platform.
Well, we do have a Jesus-loving, gun-supporting believer that family should come first, that taxes should be lowered running as D here in Tennessee.

So Harold Ford, Jr. is repenting of his anti-gun voting record over the last 10 years. As a member of Gunowners of America, from which he has earned an “F” rating, I would welcome such repentance IF he is elected. I assume he would then, NOT support an almost certain renewel effort by the Democrats of the so-called “assault weapons” ban.

The Dems have been pretty quiet on guns, probably because most of the leadership remember what happened in 1994 and they don’t want to stir the pot this election.
I doubt they’ll stay that way if they regain control of one or both Houses of Congress, though. Gun Control is an issue that is dear to the hearts of the Left-wing base, and they’ll insist on getting something from the new Democrat majority. Whether or not Pelosi will be able to deliver is another story.

One wonders why supposedly “liberal” (dervied from liberty) and tolerant people want to impose their unarmed pacifism on others–by hired guns.

For the same reason most “conservatives” vehemently oppose pretty much any conservation measure that comes along… 🙂
