Price of illegal guns going up in NYC
Street prices are up after Bloomberg’s campaign:
Many handguns are selling for about $200 more than they were, averaging about $700 to $1,000 apiece, the source said. Rifles are selling for about $300 more, averaging between $1,200 and $1,500, the source said.
Wow. Those are pricey. Of course, in NYC you have to pay a few hundred bucks in permits/permission slips to legally buy a gun legally there so it’s probably a wash.

If this were an Economics 101 class, it would appear that a rise in prices in NYC would increase the profit of the transaction, which would attract more competition – meaning more illegal gun dealers – and also an increase in crime by the end user to meet the higher capital costs of doing business.
Making gun ownership easy and legal there would of course ruin the business of illegal gun trading, reducing profits, raise tax revenue, increase eployment for ranges, retail and trainers, drive away dealers and allow people to protect themselves, thus reducing crime.
If this was a Logic 101 class, the current powers in NY would not be in charge.
