Remington actually made smoothbore .22 rifles. I guess it could be considered a shotgun.

Actually, you can get shot shells for your .22. I’ve never tried them, but they’d be fun if you had alot of rats in your barn.

I about choked on my bagel when I read that, so much so that people started to stare. Geeze!

At about 10 feet a 2 3/4 inch 12 gauge (modified choke) loaded with #7 1/2 shot makes a one inch hole with a few fliers in a basement partition.(We have still not repaired it.) So at contact range a .22 shotshell (loaded with #12 shot?) may very well be lethal.
