Non-grass, non-roots
I appreciate LaPierre’s post tyring to get people to call the ATF to report the fact that Michael Bloomberg’s people broke the law. And I do hope the NRA makes that a campaign.
But dealing the The Gun Guys is a waste of time. They are paid liars. And that is, generally, all they do. It’s one of the many non-grassroots, shill organizations funded by the Joyce Foundation. It’s ran by Mark Karlin & Associates, who also does Buzzflash. And this guy is affiliated with them, per THR. Here’s a big list of Joyce Funded, Karlin run sites. And there’s some sites the Brady Bunch runs there too.
But Wayne catches them in a couple of big lies.

That said, a real grassroots movement is what I’m trying to push with requests from locals to get the media involved. 🙂

I have learned this along time ago, that the NRA is really more a political action commitee and lobbiest group than a pro-gun organization. It might do okay for the hunters and target shooters. But for gun right advocates like myself that want more rights to carry and own. It does nothing for me.

This was the original meaning of the slang term Astroturf.
The sense has been extended to private companies that pretend online, posting testimonials, claiming to be satisfied consumers.

Michael, if it weren’t for the NRA you wouldn’t be able to legally carry a gun anywhere. It was their lobbying muscle that got Right-To-Carry passed in most of those states. You’re right that they are a political action and lobbying group, and they are damned effective one at that.
