Scary
The Justice Department is building a massive database that allows state and local police officers around the country to search millions of case files from the FBI, Drug Enforcement Administration and other federal law enforcement agencies, according to Justice officials.
The system, known as “OneDOJ,” already holds approximately 1 million case records and is projected to triple in size over the next three years, Justice officials said. The files include investigative reports, criminal-history information, details of offenses, and the names, addresses and other information of criminal suspects or targets, officials said.
Suspects, targets? What’s the difference?

jep, in europe thei’r starting to unify the countrie’s database system and thus in a near future, moving from e.g. germany to france to evade persecution for tax evasion or check fraude will as well be transparent. for now though still possible. nevertheless big cases are transmitted to a CDB in Strasbourg and those folks’ll be cought.

That may be scary, but this is far worse.
You don’t even need to be associated with any wrong doing to get on this list. Just take a flight. I’m trying to image what a mess this thing is causing and going to cause.

Suspects, targets, citizens, subjects, whatever…

I think, but I’m not sure, a suspect in an investigation is someone you suspect committed the crime you’re investigating. A target of an investigation is someone who may or may not be involved with the crime, but that the investigation has a reason to focus on. So, someone kills their wife, they become a target of the investigation. If stories don’t line up, or what have you, they can then become a suspect.

Easy – suspects haven’t been located yet, targets have already been shot.
