On the Gun Show Loophole
By contrast, the Bureau of Justice Statistics conducted a survey of 18,000 state prison inmates in 1997, the largest survey of inmates ever conducted. Less than 1 percent of inmates (0.7 percent) who had a gun indicated they had obtained it at a gun show. When combined with guns obtained from flea markets, the total rises to 1.7 percent. These are tiny fractions compared to the estimated 40 percent of the criminals’ guns that are obtained from friends or family and the 39 percent that are obtained on the street or from illegal sources. The numbers also had changed little from a similar 1991 survey that indicated that 0.6 percent of inmates had gotten their guns from guns shows and 1.3 percent from flea markets.

Closing the so-called “gun show loophole” would be just another incremental step toward citizen disarmament. Unarmed citizens benefit criminals who prefer unarmed victims just as the legalized version prefers disarmed peasants.
“The two enemies of the people are criminals and government,
so let us tie the second down with the chains of the Constitution
so the second will not become the legalized version of the first.”

I insist on calling it by it’s proper name – the Yard-Sale Loophole since it has nothing to do with gun shows, just private transactions.
If we can spread the proper name it will make it obvious what we’re talking about and the anti’s argument collapses.

Good point, KCSteve.
But the tyrants in Washington want to put the onus on gunshow sponsors to monitor private “yard sales” by the attendees; the intention being to penalize, further restrict and deny access to firearms to law-abiding citizens for the actions of criminals.

Ron W,
Right. And they get away with working toward that because they say they’re working on the evil sounding “gun show loophole“. Heck, we know what they’re really talking about and it still sounds bad.
Start forcing them to call it what it really is – the Yard Sale Loophole – or at least calling them on it every time it comes up and the sheeple will begin to see how stupid they’re being.
