The NYT and Florida’s Carry Laws
John Lott notes that the NYT took some creative liberties with Florida’s concealed carry laws:
This editorial is very deceptive in that it implies that felons are obtaining permits. But these individuals were not convicted of “felonies.” Florida judges have the power to take a plea, impose probation (without entering a conviction) and once the person completes that, “withhold conviction.” These individuals are eligible for a permit because they were not convicted of anything.

Plus the fact that, you know, the blood ain’t exactly running in the streets would tell you that the NYT was up to something.

[…] Even if there were something to the “Florida gun permits given to felons story“…wouldn’t that imply that there’s something wrong with Florida’s bureaucracy and not concealed carry itself? […]

Hey, NYT. Hand guns in the hands of LAW ABIDING CITIZENS have been proven time and time again to SAVE lives. But that’s a moot point. Our Constitution stipulates that our right to keep and bear arms is a BASIC RIGHT and one not to be infringed. Even with their Barking Moonbat friends now in control of congress the Constitution is still the “law of the land” so all of the NTY hand wringing and whining to the contrary doesn’t amount to a hill of Boston Baked Beans.
If the NYT gets Hitlery Clowntoon elected, and she has a Barking Moonbat majority in congress, THEN we will need to be supremely vigilant.
This is all about the NYT trying to convince more and more escapees from government (read: public) schools that guns are BAD. That only cops should have guns, never the average citizen. They want more and more power for a government run by the socialist, Barking Moonbat Left and that, my friends, means, by definition, less and less freedom for the people.
Make no mistake; the NYT and their lick spittle minions are all about bringing about a progressive-socialist country that is a mere member of their hoped for United Nations. They, the NYT, wants to US to be subservient to the sec. gen. of the UN. I say, over my dead body! NYT, GO TO HELL!!!!!!!!!!
