Another Tennessee Self Defense Bill
Another is in the works. This one targets carjackers:
Spurred by violent crime in Memphis and elsewhere, Tennessee legislators have filed several bills to expand the legal rights of people to use deadly force when threatened by would-be attackers.
One would specifically allow people in motor vehicles to kill or “cause serious bodily injury” to attackers — both inside or outside the vehicle — who they believe are threatening to murder, rape, kidnap, rob or carjack the car’s occupants.
That bill was filed Rep. Ulysses Jones and Sen. Reginald Tate, both Memphis Democrats. “I’ve heard a lot of support for this. It’s time to give citizens the opportunity to protect themselves. Right now, we’re at the mercy of what I call ‘scum’,” Jones, a Memphis Fire Department paramedic, said Tuesday.
There are a total of 11 bills in the works in Tennessee to expand use of force provisions.

With Brady Bunch support, no doubt. Jack.

Speaker Naifeh will make sure that these bills do not get a full House vote. They typically pass through the House “Constitutional Protections Committee” where the Constitutional RIGHT to keep and carry arms for self-defense is not only unprotected, but regularly violated by Naifeh’s hand-picked Nazi-Commies.

In New Orleans well before Katrina and Nagin, they had tired of their “little old ladies” being attacked and killed or grievously injured when some thug decided he wanted their cars.
A bill was passed into law that deadly force could be used against a car jacker whether or not the car belonged to the killer of the criminal. They specifically placed no distance qualifiers on the action. As it was explained in one news conference, if a passerby saw a carjacking taking place, it didn’t have to be his car, even if he had to run three blocks to shoot and kill the carjacker no criminal charges would be filed against the shooter.
Carjacking at that time the number one violent crime, fell to almost nothing in number of occurrences. It didn’t even require a lot of shootings of carjackers to quell the outbreak due to the heavy pr campaign explaining the new law. Fear of immediate consequence put an almost complete end to carjacking in La.
I don’t know if the law is still in effect. Due to the violations of the armed citizens of New Orleans, by law enforcement, at a time when they really needed to be armed I have to think that it is not. But I don’t know.

I believe this bill is important so that in times of a carjacking we will need to use self defense to stop the threat against us. Here is an interesting article about using self defense but not by deadly force.

But don’t you still have to have a CCW to have a loaded weapon in your car?
The bad guys have the legal edge. I don’t know what the solution is but citizens should be able to defend themselves. But would any State allow citizens to have a loaded weapon in their car without a CCW?
The bad guys don’t care about laws. They are impervious to the law, as long as they don’t get caught or put away for too long they will continue to kill and car jack. Only fear of death by civilians is a deterrent.
