Stuff I don’t get: Real Estate Agent Glamour Shots
Invariably, you have driven down the street and seen a billboard for some female real estate agent. On the billboard is a giant shot of her mug all dolled up, resembling a session taken at Glamour Shots. I guess people look for attractiveness when buying property.

Thats at least what the realtors think. And in a way, its understandable – they are in a business that holds – second to location location location – appearance more valuable than any other.
Look at the way they will hire professional cleaners to scrub a house down before an open house – or painters to put a fresh coat of paint on it before showing it – or carpenters to cover up any of the personalities a house has accumulated over the years.
Of course, what I always find the most amusing is when you actually meet the realtor and discover her glamor shot was taken 35 years ago.

Countertop beat me to the observation about meeting them in person.

If you have a choice between having a babe drive me around town, making conversation and showing me house after house, or some guy named Jim doing it, which would you do? Even after 35 years, I bet she’s cuter than Jim.

Seems like a stupid idea to me…
Idiot with violent tendencies notices her billboard, figures what the heck, calls her and asks to meet at some unoccupied residence?
Real bright. Hope that hottie is WELL ARMED!

Even the old geezers put their pictures on their advertising. Its something abour real estate and mortgage brokers that they seem to think people knowing what they look like is a major reason for going with one person or the other.

Crikey! I was commenting on this very phenomena the other day on the Pigtown Cleanup…where you see tons of realtor signs.
I’m in sales myself…but it seems only realtors seem to think their smiling face helps sell what they’re selling.
Dorky, IMHO. Good looking as I am, I rather doubt it’s my dapper suits and smiling mug that makes me good at selling. Empathy and the ability to listen to the consumer is what makes a good sales person, not a stupid grin on a billboard.
