Randi Rhodes changes her position on the second amendment. Well, in that armed insurrection kind of way. I guess whoever’s political party is not in power is motivated to be pro-gun.

Once upon a time, at least some liberal Democrats understood what the 2nd Amendment is about. Andthey were true, classic liberals who believed in liberty for the people.
“Certainly one of the chief guarantees of freedom under any government, no matter how popular and respected, is the right of the citizens to keep and bear arms. This is not to say that firearms should not be carefully used and that definite safety rules of precaution should not be taught and enforced. But the right of the citizens to bear arms is just one guarantee against a tyranny which now appears remote in America, but which historically has proved to be always possible.” –Hubert H. Humphrey
JFK also expressed the same thinking and a liberal Supreme Court Justice said,
” The closest the framers came to the affirmative side of liberty was in the right of the people to bear arms.” –William O. Douglas, 1963
But many of today’s “liberals” are leftists who believe in command and control government where only hired guns are allowed.

Here’s the JFK on the 2nd Amendment recognizing that government tyranny was one its reasons for existing, although, he thought it was unlikely THEN. Of course, the other reason is for security against criminals for which “the 2nd Amendment will (also) always be important”:
“By calling attention to ‘a well regulated militia’, the ’security’ of the nation, and the right of each citizen ‘to keep and bear arms’, our founding fathers recognized the essentially civilian nature of our economy. Although it is extremely unlikely that the fears of governmental tyranny which gave rise to the Second Amendment will ever be a major danger to our nation, the Amendment still remains an important declaration of our basic civilian-military relationships, in which every citizen must be ready to participate in the defense of his country. For that reason, I believe the Second Amendment will always be important.” – John F. Kennedy, April 1960
When elected and public officials ignore and disobey the WORDING of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, then “governmental tyranny” is a real possibility if not already in its early stages.

Her party has the House and the Senate, so she is not exactly out of power.
