Poker: Hey, it sounds like Parker!
Late in a tourney, five players. I’m the big stack. I’m in late position. I get:
K♣Q♣
I raise it up to three times the big blind. Two callers. Flop:
2♣ 4♥ Q♦
A caller (the short stack – I have at least 20 times his stack) minimum raises. Though the small stack, he’s in no danger of being blinded out yet. Other player folds. Action to me and I think he has a good hand and figure we’re in a kicker war. I put him all in. He flips over 4♦ 2♦. I catch a queen on the river and win. He says: Nice suck out. I say Yeah, but I didn’t call a pre-flop raise with deuce four.
I did suck out. But, ferrchrissakes, who calls a raise with 4♦ 2♦? Even as a short stack, there are better hands to make a move with.

He tried to bluff you and got called.
He calls that a “suck out”?
That’s like some guy in a 4-banger revving it at a stop light against a Hemi.
After his doors are blown off, he whines. WTF?

If I’m in the mood to take a chance and we’re not playing pot- or no-limit, I’ll call with suited duece-four. That’s not a huge investment for the possibilities… and sometimes that means high cards are out on the table that no-one can match up but will keep them in the game after the flop. It’s risky and not for every hand, but – if it weren’t for that river he would have had that hand. Of course that doesn’t mean you sucked out. You played well, and his gamble didn’t pay off this time.

p.s. with two low pair, I would have never have gone all in on the flop.

Odds were a little more than 1000 to 1 that he could win. Dumb. K-Q is a favorite hand to play. Lots of tells.

Surprisingly, he was about 35% to win against my hand pre-flop. About 72% after.

I’m sorry, I just don’t get this flop, river, around the doghouse crap. Whatever happened to poker?
