The reason was appearing to be from Maryland. The cops were called and we were blocked in and questioned for simply having Maryland plates on the rental car. They wanted to know all the details of who we were, why we were in their town and who could verify we were there in town for a “justifiable” reason. When he found out we were carrying lawfully, he took the gun and then kept us there for a while while verifying Sebastian’s identity and mine.
That’s understandable. Actually being from Maryland would be proof beyond a reasonable doubt that something was wrong with you. Merely having Maryland plates is not, but surely it counts as probable cause.

What was the reason? Hard to believe a cop in Texas would do that.
