Right to privacy
In Ohio, a sheriff is suing the state over a law requiring him to turn over lists of people who apply for concealed carry permits to journalists.
I find it odd that, all of a sudden, journalists have taken an interest in those that have concealed carry permits (i.e., the Roanoke Times and all). Really, what is the point? Because, honestly, it seems like they’re trying to out people in some sort of witch-hunt.

Actually, the journalist just wants to let his hoodlum friends know which house it’s safe to break into.

When the dickhead in Roanoke had his name and address published, he fled and hired armed bodyguards. Then whined about having done to him what he did to others. Others whom did not have a newspaper willing to pay for their personal security.
I think this is the way to handle them all, without giving them the list. Let them walk the first mile.

“Look see, you go get a Conceal Carry and We’re gonna print your name up for all to see. So you better be a good boy or girl and give up those evil guns and do what we; the press; tell you! Or else!”
I think that about sums up the thought process.

Oh, and good on County Sheriff Phil Stammitti! May he see many reelections if he is doing this for privacy reasons.
I wonder how long before the anti-groups start showing up at CCW’s houses to harass them? Or show up at neighbor’s homes asking: ” Don’t you know what a dangerous individual lives next door?”

You are all missing the point. The “journalist” is the org., “Ohioans for Concealed Carry”. They are the group thats been fighting the good fight for gun rights in Ohio. they want it to build a pro-gun support base. Do you really think the sheriff would object if it was a anti-gun media group?!!?

In fact the Cincinnati Enquirer has requested the records also.
