Be on the lookout
Police guns getting stolen. In Memphis:
Memphis police were looking Monday night for the thieves who stole seven weapons from a North Carolina SWAT team van parked in South Memphis.
Members of the SWAT team based in Raleigh, N.C., were eating at Interstate Bar-B-Que, 2265 S. Third, about 3:30 p.m. Monday when they realized their van had been broken into, said Lt. Jerry Gwyn of Memphis felony response.
Taken were three machine guns, two semi-automatic handguns, and two 12-gauge shot guns, Gwyn said.
My sooper seekrit sources say the machine guns are actually Sig 551s. And in Utah:
Thieves broke into a Utah County Sheriff’s vehicle early Tuesday morning in Lehi and stole two very dangerous assault weapons that authorities fear could be used in other crimes.

A 15-year-old boy who caused a lockdown at Todd Beamer High School in Federal Way was charged Tuesday by King County prosecutors with possessing stolen property, unlawful possession of a firearm and carrying a dangerous weapon at school.
Gun theft charges have been filed in Pierce County against two other boys — one a State Patrol trooper’s son — who police say helped the boy steal six handguns from the trooper’s Puyallup-area home and tried to make it look like a burglary. The 15- year-old boy took three of those loaded handguns to the Federal Way school Thursday, police said.

You could find weapons like those in about 25% of the homes in Lehi. Not to mention be able to buy them at the nearby Cabela’s store.

So, gun control laws would have helped in this case right? Because, gun control laws would have kept the SWAT team’s guns out of the hands of bad people right?

One more reason to ban the selling of guns to law enforcment.
If 1 – 2 percent of criminals get their guns from gun shows… how many get them from police?

The Seattle police chief has a novel cost reduction program that keeps bad guys from damaging city police vehicles when they break into them. Leave the vehicles unlocked.
Chief Kerlikowskie (sp?) had his handgun stolen when he left it sitting on the front seat of his unlocked vehicle with the window rolled down. The vehicle was undamaged in the theft…….
