The 08 Prez race and guns
So far, it looks like the most pro-gun candidate is Democrat Bill Richardson. PGP notes the irony.

I concur with Bitter and Sebastian. The NRA’s news coverage should stick to guns. Not global warming, Hillary!, Al Gore, and other non-gun bogeymen.
Looks like the bill is moving forward:
The bill would expand the circumstances under which a person using deadly force for self-defense is considered immune from civil liability.
Under present law, a person is justified in using deadly force in his or her residence if they have a reasonable fear of death or serious bodily injury.
The pending legislation would expand the use of deadly force to include within a vehicle or dwelling, as opposed to just a person’s own residence.
Actually, under present law if you have a reasonable fear of death or serious bodily injury, it doesn’t matter where you’re located. This bill mostly makes you immune from civil liability.
Buy a gun day and US Citizen (an FFL) is offering special prices for bloggers. And the Cowboy is tracking purchases.
Viagra/v1@6ra/cialis and all that: Sorry, but I really don’t need a boner for 36 hours, even if it’s just $0.09 per pill.
First Third Bank: seriously, that’s the name you came up with? Am I supposed to guess like the next word or something?
Haja Laila Hassan: SORRY BUT I DON’T DO BUSINESS WITH PEOPLE WHO USE ALL CAPS, NO MATTER HOW ENTICING THE $20M YOU’LL GIVE ME IN EXCHANGE FOR $10K.
Mr. Hot Stock Tip: Wow. It’s selling for only pennies! It must be a good deal.
Vera: Look, I like wild party girls / big badonkadonks / hot teens / nymphos in heat / milfs next door / lesbian tongue baths / midgets / girls masturbating as much as anyone, but I ain’t paying for your site. Porn is free. And knock it off. Sometimes I read email at the office.
Levitra: I don’t even know what the fuck you are.
Cheap Long Distance: I have a cell phone. It’s already free. That’s as cheap as it gets.

Cheap insurance: Got plenty, thanks.
I don’t need any carbon offsets, thanks. If I want bullshit, it’s in the pasture behind my house.

I just found it funny. Yeah, I know it’s actually cabbage but writing puns is hard.
In today’s Farragut Press there is one sentence that may forever change the debate on Metro Government in Knox County. It is a quote from Town of Farragut town attorney Tom Hale. When asked about how Metro Government would affect Farragut Mr. Hale responded that Farragut would have a couple options. The first option would be a referendum to do away with the Board of Mayor and Aldermen. Does that mean also abolishing the Town of Farragut?
Here is where is gets interesting. The second option is for a referendum to decide NOT to join Knox County Government. Mr. Hale said, “The decision would really be in the hands of the citizens”.
Would this second option mean seceding from Knox County and taking those Farragut property tax dollars away from Knox County? Does a Metro Government charter allow the people of Farragut to go their own way?
Today Farragut is a municipality in Knox County with property tax dollars going to Knox County. If in fact the people of the Town of Farragut would have the option via referendum to withdraw from Knox County and keep their property tax dollars it would seem that they are the key decision makers concerning any future Metro Government.
I used to poke fun at my dad who didn’t quite get computers. Or his cell phone. Or any other electronic doohickey. Then, it happened to me. You see, I got a text message. I’d never gotten one before. My thinking is that if I got something to say and I have a phone then I’ll just call. But my assistant was running late and she sent me a text message letting me know that. I looked at it and thought maybe I should respond. So, I hit reply. Couldn’t quite figure out how to do it. Anything I typed came out like 65#733.
Also, I’ve lost the ability to write sentences by hand. I type everything. I was going to leave a post-it note the other day and my handwriting was indistinguishable from Junior’s. And she can’t write.
And I can officially no longer do math in my head or on paper. I use spreadsheets for everything so as long as I remember Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally, I’m OK. Unless it’s something simple, such as 17,758.67 – 9,211.10. I literally had to look at it and realize that it was just quicker to enter it into Excel than to use some ancient device known as a pencil. It’s quite sad.
FBI investigators have visited Second Life’s Internet casinos at the invitation of the virtual world’s creator Linden Lab, but the U.S. government has not decided on the legality of virtual gambling.

Did he really just call him Hitler?
BTW, AC has a good read on the tax on spanking your monkey. And, speaking of the tax on punching the clown, Terry Frank has more. And since we’re discussing rubbing one out, the story has made the national news.
So, do you beat it like Michael Jackson or like it owes you money?
In other news, I know a lot of euphemisms for choking your chicken.
Each year since its occurrence in 1999, the April 20 anniversary of the Columbine High School tragedy renews debate about the desirability of stricter controls on firearms. Recent surveys, however, find Americans less disposed to gun control than they were in the years surrounding the shootings.
Livaccari points out that, in a holdup, a gun-waving victim is more likely to end up shot than one who simply hands over money — though his message isn’t helped by incidents like one last October in which a would-be victim shot and killed a man he told police was trying to rob him and a female companion at gunpoint near the French Quarter. Then there’s the possibility that a gun will be stolen and used in other crimes. But as long as the sense of being under siege persists, such concerns aren’t likely to dampen sales of guns, pepper spray, guard dogs and other weapons in New Orleans.
Blackwater wants to locate in California. In California, everything Blackwater does/has is illegal.
Shit to do. Age old dilemma for work process:
1 – Input stuff
2 – Miracle happens
3 – Everyone is happy
I’m trying to figure out the miracle because, at some point, we’ve all forgotten.
The gun boards on Al Gore’s Internets are humming with news that the ATF is coming after owners of FN FS2000 and PS90s. Here’s one such link. Dudes at subguns.com think it’s bogus. Seems there are allegation that ATF arrested someone for possession of a machine gun due to a malfunctioning spring. Some have speculated it’s related to this release from last year.
Anyway, I don’t put any stock into it. But forewarned and all that. Folks who would know say FN denies the rumors.
But Uncle, you say, why post this if it’s just a rumor? And I say: so you don’t have to browse ten pages of crap to realize it’s bogus.
Lame:
Apparently, if Fred Thompson does run for President, every episode of Law and Order he has been in could be yanked from the air as other candidates could require ‘equal time’ on those networks.
I hope it’s a joke. If it’s not, someone needs to get their ass kicked.
Interesting read on the Pink Pistols. I found this not at all shocking:
Yet Pistols founder Krick says the most controversy — and, sometimes, outright hostility — comes not from conservatives, but the gay community.
“We’ve gotten a lot of support from the gun community in general,” Krick says, “but as for the organizations geared towards the queer community, that’s where we’ve been getting a lot more static.”
The porn not corn tax bill came out of the first sub committee but was given a negative recommendation. The sub committee was made up of three people Joe Haynes(D), Douglas Henry(D) and Diane Black(R). The negative vote was given by Haynes and Henry. Diane Black was for the bill.
Good. It’s a really stupid bill.
Via Insty, Robert Levy thinks congress and the NRA might be mucking up the case:
Parker is a much better vehicle to vindicate Second Amendment rights than an act of Congress. First, legislative repeal of the D.C. gun ban will not stop criminal defense attorneys and Public Defenders from citing the Second Amendment when they challenge “felon in possession” charges. Thus, if Parker is derailed, the next Second Amendment case to reach the Supreme Court could feature a murderer or drug dealer instead of six law-abiding citizens.
Second, a bill aimed at D.C. does only part of the job. It could be repealed by a more liberal Congress. And it will have no effect on state law outside of D.C. In effect, those who support the D.C. Personal Protection Act will be opposing an unambiguous Supreme Court proclamation on the Second Amendment, applicable across the nation.
Third, the Supreme Court is more conservative today than it’s been for some time, and probably more conservative than it’s going to be. In the unlikely event that five current justices decide to read the Second Amendment out of the Constitution by upholding a total ban on handguns, that would be the time for Congress to act. Until then, the D.C. Personal Protection Act is premature and counter-productive.
I see the danger in passing the bill. A bill like this pops up every couple of years. This year, it’s bad timing.
