This is funny, but the last square leads me to surmise that it is referring to Fox News and not the alphabet media.
A case in point is the New York Times’ running 64 or 65 (I think) stories on the fact that Augusta National Country Club had no female members.
That kind of coverage by the nation’s paper of record should itself have been the subject of stories by other media outlets, but the alphabet media was too caught up in the underlying, insignificant story that it didn’t report on the NYT’s infatuation with it.
I don’t even play or follow golf (very closely, at least, but I try to keep an eye on Tiger, who is my favorite golfer).
However, it was kind of refreshing to see the powers that be at Augusta National tell CBS and its corporate sponsors (led by IBM, I think) that they would play the tournament with or without media or sponsor coverage.
Augusta National also put the word out that Bill Gates need not apply for membership after he said in a magazine interview that he planned to join it.
It’s kind of nice to see an organization, which needs neither money nor prestige, not capitulate to bullying by the media.
Chris – it could equally well apply to any of the alphabet soup as Fox.
By the by, I’m curious how you define “bully”. Some people might think the term would apply to the organization with the sign on the door saying “NO girlz! This meens YOU!”, rather than the people pointing to the sign…

Maybe, except that it pokes fun at news media saying that John Kerry eats dead babies (or something like that). Kerry rumors are not something you heard much of on the alphabet media. For example, only after Kerry lost the election did Tim Russert question him (albeit too late to make a difference) as to why or when he would authorize the release of his military records.

Justice Potter Stewart said that he couldn’t define pornography, but he knew it when he saw it.
That may similarly apply to bullying.
I think, without a doubt, that the NYT’s running an absurd amount of stories on Augusta National’s membership policy was clearly bullying.
I don’t think that exercising one’s freedom of association, whether it is Augusta National or the Congressional Black Caucus (which most recently excluded Congressman Steve Cohen of Memphis, and Harold Ford, Jr.’s successor, because he is white), is bullying.
By the way, send us a picture of that door at Augusta National to which you refer.
