Help me out here
I could be wrong, and wouldn’t put it past the state of Illinois to be so stupid, but a Firearm Owners Identification Card is not a firearm, right?

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.

The story says the tot does own a firearm, which is why he needs the FOID. Apparently the original story read “Toddler Packing Heat,” which of course is wrong since a FOID doesn’t allow that.

Watch out. I forsee the JBT’s doing a no-knock to reclaim the wrongly-issued card, shooting the unarmed youngster in a hail of gunfire (since he made a provocative move towards his rattle), and the Police Chief deeming it a “good shoot”.

Nope. There’s no minimum age for an FOID. All the law says is that under 21 you need the consent of a parent or legal guardian who is himself eligible for an FOID. I am looking to start my daughter shooting at eight or nine. The restrictions for “possession” are different from the restrictions for sale which are different from the restrictions for gift or loan. An FOID is necessary in each case but not sufficient. You also need separate proof of age. Different ages kick in for longarm vs. handgun, outright possession vs. training at a range, for hunting, etc.
