Camera Crazy UK gets a Flying Camera

The UK is looking more Orwellian. Flying cameras? I wonder if this is a natural progression from having banned firearms and the current consideration of banning knives?

Ian Readhead, deputy chief constable of Hampshire Police, said Britain could face an Orwellian situation with cameras on every street corner. However, senior officers in Merseyside, who are trialling the drone, said they did not believe it was the next phase in creating a Big Brother society.

Assistant chief constable Simon Byrne said: “People clamour for the feeling of safety which cameras give.

“Obviously there is a point of view that has been expressed but our feedback from the public is anything we can do to fight crime is a good thing.

Do you think if they could protect themselves maybe Orwell’s Big Brother wouldn’t be necessary?

Well, in that case, they should just lock up everyone in the UK. Maybe only let them out for weekly soccer hooliganism and they’d be set.

There’s that “feeling of safety” thing again..

Over at Tam’s place is a more practical idea.

In Great Britain, the inmates are truly running the asylum.

We’ve got something similar in America, although its intent and design is slightly different. We’re more big picture sorta people here.

Stupid, stupid waste of money. Of course, the same is the case anytime they’re more focused on having the newest toys rather than actually stopping crime or preventing criminals from committing more crimes.

Is it just me, or does the flying camera look like a flying Cuisinart? That is cartoon stupidity. You know someone will get hurt.

Apparently they have forgotten what the cops are supposed to do.

It doesn’t matter if people actually _are_ safe, just that the police are, y’know… _doing something_.

Or does this mini chopper have arrest powers we don’t know about?

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
