Happy Fourth of July
Making Italian subs. Simple:
Grill some Italian sausages (hot for me, mild for The Mrs.)
Put them on a bun and add some of your favorite leftover spaghetti sauce, some mozzarella cheese, and some fresh basil. Onions optional.

For the vegetarians out there, the Boca brand Italian sausages are virtually indistinguishable from the real thing. All the goodness without the cholesterol. 🙂

That is not an italian sub; that’s a sausage sub.
An italian sub has cappacola, salami, pepperoni, ham, and provolone cheese, with olive oil, pepper, vinegar, oregano, and basil, on a sub roll with a light chewy crust and tender chewy inside.
Mustard, pickles, peppers and onions are optional.

A submarine is a boat that goes underwater. The proper term for such a sandwich as Chris mentioned is “Italian Hoagie”

Being married to a Michigan German gal, it has to be Brats burgers. She doesn’t like onions, in fact hates them. But a Georgia vidalia is so damn good on a brat burger.
