Strapped behind enemy lines

A woman from Tennessee with a concealed carry permit was arrested in Chicago for packing:

“It didn’t dawn on her that our state did not have the same gun laws as hers did,” said police spokeswoman Monique Bond.

Of course not, she’s from a free state.

Question, if she is charged with “felony for unlawful use of a weapon”, will she lose her CCW permit in Tennessee?

Rube Goldberg would be so proud. Kafka too.

  2. Rick DeMent Says:

You mean there are no laws restricting who can and who cannot carry in Tennessee?

  3. Thirdpower Says:

To play devil’s advocate. The woman is an idiot. Even in TN, she most likely wouldn’t have been allowed to carry in the Sears Tower.
    Tn CCW restrictions:
    * On the grounds of any public park, playground, civic center or other building facility, area or property owned, used or operated by any municipal, county or state government, or instrumentality thereof, for recreational purposes.

  4. Squeaky Wheel Says:

Thirdpower, I was going to say something similar, though I might not have called her an idiot. Naive, maybe, but not an idiot.

However, the fact that she stuck the purse on the belt with the gun inside should be proof enough that she wasn’t planning any covert assaults.

  5. gattsuru Says:

I was under the impression the Sears Tower’s skydeck was privately owned and operated.

Not knowing Chicago was a GFW state implies idiocy, though.

  6. straightarrow Says:

No, what it implies is that free Americans who are not invested in the fight to secure our freedoms are ignorant of the attacks upon it.. They mistakenly believe that all of America is a free state.

We preach to the choir, the media preaches to the masses. We need to expand our influence. How to do it without target audience participation against MSM disinformation is a question none of us has yet answered successfully. I am no different, I do not know how to reach the fat, dumb and happy either. By the time they realize there is a problem with their enjoyment of liberty, they are denied it by process of conviction of crime.

Hopefully, we will learn to untie this Gordian Knot before we must use the sword upon it.

  7. Les Jones Says:

I dunno. The class I took for my Tennessee HCP made it clear that the permit was for Tennessee and you had to check the laws in other states to see if they had reciprocity. I guess shoe snoozed during that part. Unfortunate all the same, and a pox on Chicago’s government all the same.

  8. Ron W Says:

Now IF the ACLU actually defended all of the Bill of Rights, they would be all over this and try to persuade the court to strike down this uncontitutional infringement of our civil rights in Illinois.

  9. Jay Says:

Not to excuse the mistake, but gun laws are often radically different between states.

Of course, ILL-annoy is a no-carry state and you need a specially-issued card just to purchase or own ammo.

  10. Michael Says:

Going up to U.P. Michigan to visit mother in law, I gotta drive through Chicago and Wisconson. Two states who are not friendly to carry conceal or guns period. It takes four hours to get to friendly Michigan. I feel naked the entire time. But it beats dealing with the TSA flying up.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
