Tempting
Stickwick writes a Dear John letter to the movie theater. I concur. The last movie I saw at the theater was Bad Santa in December of 2003. Lately, it has been tempting. I did not go see 300 because, as with most movies, I thought I’d be disappointed. I am tempted to see both Transformers and Live Free or Die Hard.

Hmm.
Live Free or Die Hard is a decent action movie, but it’s not going to reignite a love for cinema. (Whoever said Willis was channeling his character from Unbreakable got it right).
But 300 would not have disappointed.

Loved the Transformers movie. I’m 38 so I was to old to play with the toys although I did watch the cartoon when I got home from school. The movie was the perfect summer fair with plenty of action, witty dialogue and some romance. 2 big thumbs up.

Between the ticket prices, the cell phones, the damn people in the theater who won’t shut up, and the damn people who break into cars in the parking lot, my interest in movie theaters is about nil.
Oh, I almost forgot the main reason, the crappy movies.

The last time I set foot in a theater was for the premeir of “The Exorcist”. Late 70’s I think… (Grauman’s Chinese Theater in Hollyweird)

Oh, do get 300 when it’s out on DVD – it is just superb.

transformers has gotta be in the top 5 of the best movies ive ever seen, and that is saying a lot considering all the crap that ive seen in the last twenty eight years

I got to movies every couple of months or so, and don’t have a terribly negative experience. OTOH, the movie theatre I go to is kind of obscure;y located (though it has apparently been discovered finally). Management seems to be aware that their customers pay the bills; it was relatively recently renovated to be totally stadium seating, and the messages against cell-phones, while heavy-handed, are apparently effective. I also can go to movies at 10 pm or post, so some of the children aren’t present…
Oh, and I buy the ticket and nothing else, no pop-corn, no soda, no nothing 🙂
Transformers is worth the cost, IMHO.

I will say that Transformers is tempting me to rescind the break-up. Maybe the 10 AM show on a weekday wouldn’t be so bad. And, as Ian says, skip the snacks.
If theater management would just do something about the commercials and the audience noise, I’d put up with the rest…
