In Connecticut, gun sales rose after a brutal home invasion left a man’s wife and two daughters dead.
I’ve addressed before how tragedies tend to lead to increases in gun sales (NOLA & 9-11, notably). But never have I heard of an individual crime leading to that.

Oh, man… After the Christian/Newsom thing?!? Handgun sales and CCW permit classes went bazonkoids. We were booked solid, 20-25 people/weekend for like almost two months in advance at one point…

The gun store whose employee is interviewed in the linked-to article (Hoffman’s) is a great place with a very large selection. I bought my P32 there years ago.
They have a wonderful sign out front that says it all

There must be a typo in that article. They mention “defense-grade shotguns”, but everybody knows gun are designed solely for killing people in cold blood and that there’s no need to own one for defending your family.

It must just be shorthand for “Defense industrial complex” grade.

Perhaps all those early naysayers are reevaluating the value of their wives and daughters as opposed to being in sync with the PC crowd.

Popularity at the water cooler may not seem as pressing as avoiding untimely funerals for loved ones, now that they thought about it.

It’s sad that it always takes a tragedy to open people’s eyes to reality. The reality that you are truly safe NOWHERE, even when armed. But being armed makes you as close to being safe as is possible.
