Like you and me, only better
David notes that the LA Sheriff gives out gun carry permits to famous people like Ben Affleck (who, btw, says he is a second amendment guy). Also, in John Lott’s Freedomnomics, there is a chapter on Crime and Punishment that notes an increase in carry permits in NYC. Holders of said permits include, of course, a long list of famous and powerful people, like Donald Trump and Imus.
Both cities make it impossible for regular people to get said permits.
Update: John Lott corrects me noting that: Note my book doesn’t say that permits increased in New York City, just that it was higher than most people might think. Whoops, sorry. Didn’t have it right in front of me. But, hey, I’m reading footnotes too.

“Self-defense for rich white folks only!”
That’s what passes for “common sense gun policy” in these perverted enclaves of feel-good, do-nothing liberalism (LA, Boston, New York, etc.).
Yet, somehow, it always ends up with us gun owners being portrayed as racist, intolerant, knuckle-dragging rednecks.
Go figure.

Do not even get me started on the idiocy of California’s concealed carry permit system… Sure, I could get one here in San Diego – so long as I make a sizeable donation to the jackass in the Sheriff’s office…

Hell, the average citizen in Caliscrewya has a better chance of winning the state lottery than of getting a conceled permit.

Either we are equal or we are not. Good people ought to be armed where they will, with wits and guns and the truth. NRA KMA$$
Re lottery, one has no chance of winning if one does not play. If one buys a ticket then your chances improve only slightly – from zero. A tax on stupids.
