You’re scaring the white people

Checking in, I see this by R. Neal talking about a post here:

They’re analyzing a Fox News video of a lawyer getting shot down outside a court house, and debating the finer points of “aimed fire” v. “point shooting” v. “stopping power,” with the added observation that “On a humorous note, watching a lawyer dodge bullets is always funny.”

Good God, people. An innocent man was shot and nearly killed by a deranged, gun-toting criminal outside a court house. And this is funny? And provides valuable technical instruction on how better to kill innocent people with a handgun?

Look, I’m all for the 2nd Amendment, with some reasonable interpretations that might prohibit my neighbor from owning rocket propelled grenade launchers and nuclear weapons. (Why is it these guys always forget to mention the “well regulated” part?) [well-regulated modifies militia and not the right of the people to keep and bear arms – ed.]

But this kind of stuff is where they lose me, and most mainstream, rationally thinking Americans. These guys sit around fantasizing about their guns and the day they will finally get to use them, like it’s some kind of video game with no consequences.

With the exception of the sitting around and fantasizing bit and the implication that gun nuts hope to shoot someone, I think he’s right on about in how we gun nuts come across when we talk about that sort of stuff. Remember what I said about scaring white people? Well, that’s what I’m talking about. Joking about people getting shot is kinda not cool.

And, no, I don’t have a particular emotional attachment to my guns. I do, however, have one to my right to keep them. And I think they’re pretty cool. And, for me, shooting is fun. It’s a hobby. I enjoy shooting guns. I enjoy building them. I enjoy learning about them. It’s like my golf or something non gun nuts do. It also has the added benefit of making me safer. That post in which I called them babies was making fun of Biden and the youtube guy. But I’ve addressed before why I’m a gun nut and noted that my reasons probably makes your average mainstream American twitch funny.

Anyway, that said. What’s wrong with lefty err liberal err progressive culture? They lose me and most mainstream, rationally thinking Americans on many issues, such as the chickenhawk canard in that post; the almost fanatical defense of Al Gore and global warming as religion [note: I happen to think Global Warming is real and these folks turn me off]; blaming Bush for hurricanes and bridge collapses; and stating they would not be surprised if Bush suspends elections and declares martial law; Etc. And, for the record, I’m not saying those are views held be R. Neal, well except the chickenhawk canard.

Lather, rinse, repeat for any culture.

Remember, any culture or group has it’s factions or positions on issues that turn regular people off.

Whoops! Now you’ve done it … you challenged the inimitable R. Neal, the champion of “Progressive” thought (an oxymoron, if there ever was one), so now you will be subject to that most horrible of retributions … De-linking at KnoxViews.com and/or your links to there redirecting elsewhere! Oh, the humanity!

But, at least you’d be in good company …

    Enjoy your vacay!

Truth is, I found that “dodging bullets” comment to be distatseful too.

I get pretty annoyed that Nuclear armaments are always used to distinguish “proper” firearm owners versus the nuts. I have yet to find any firearms owner advocating the right to own nuclear weapons.

Of course, sometimes they mix in assualt weapons with nuclear weapons, thus putting an AK-47 owner on par with Kim Jong Il.

Whinging lefties, and totalitarians of all stripes, love to go all fluttery and hands in the air. “Oh! How could you even think such a thing, let alone say it!”

I answer: How can you look at the world around you, and NOT say it?

  5. HardCorps Says:

If a man stole your wallet, and roughed you up a bit, you would probably be much better off than after an encounter with a lawyer. We focus on the physical damage crime causes (which is most important) but we tend to forget the economic damages. A man who worked 20 years could have a small next egg robbed by a layer – and now his future is crushed. How can he retire? how can he put food on the table? how can he afford medical care?

We as gun owners know the importance of innocence and the sanctity of life more than anyone. But hey, lawyers are terrible people.

I am thinking of what my next “off-the-deep-end posts by #9” will be. They still love me in Progressiveville. Kinda. Sorta. Maybe not very much.

Talk about no sense of humor. R. Neal and gang photoshop Chimpy McBushHilter almost daily but let me post one post about the haircut John Edwards and that is the off-the-deep-end post. Don’t even think of a post about his Earthness the honorable father Al Gore of Gaia. Not cool to make fun of a Deity. It is blasphemy. But it is perfectly fine to degrade the President in the middle of a War.

Apparently my hobby of exposing the hypocrisy of progressives in not well tolerated by those of the most tolerant.

Think this would be a good post?

I’m shocked that more lawyers aren’t assaulted, threatened, murdered, et daily all over the nation. They are critically involved with people when those people are submerged in a confusing, threatening, and complex process that is very frightening to any rational person.

It’s rare though. I’m surprised to see this tape. Glad the lawyer wasn’t mortally wounded, but as I say, because of the process they are involved in, I’m surprised 10 or 20 are killed per week nationwide.

Whoops – and here I am, the constant champion of not scaring the white people, doing exactly it is what I continuously tell people not to do.

I submit that perhaps my sense of humor is slightly too dark for my own good, from time to time.

I would be interested to know if R. Neal had any criticism of those wishing Cheney dead or Bush hanged etc. or if his high dudgeon is just reserved for poor humor from our side. The difference is that Ahab was trying to be humorous. As opposed to the serious wishes of those wishing extreme ill on members of the opposition political party.

Not to worry Ahab, some people just dont understand the old saying; “you can laugh or you can bloody well cry”…

After 30 years as a Fireman I have a well developed graveyard humor that any Firefighter, Cop, or Paramedic needs to retain one’s sanity on those jobs so I personally didnt see anything aweful about your post. I guess we have the same level of humor. 🙂

Only Liberals may use satire or sarcasm. They are special.

No kidding!! Be the victim of a malicious lawsuit at the hands/mouth of a lawyer just one time and anything that makes a lawyer unconfortable is funny. Have one of them try to rob you blind and then do an attitude check.

  13. #9 Says:

They are in a real lather over in Progressiveville. KnoxViews does do a good job on local issues. But when they get on a tear on the typical liberal dogma the Birkenstocks gets a little too tight.

The new hen at KnoxViews is Carol Borges. A Northern who has come to edumacate the dumb hillbillies of Knoxville about morality, guns, and the evils of Chimpy McBushHilter.

She is the female Andy Axel. Carol thinks gun owners are very weird. This is how Carol rolls.

    Now who is weird?

  14. #9 Says:

More on Carol Borges. She is a published author, teacher, and poet. Clearly she is smarter than any of us. She is almost as smart as fellow teacher Metulj.

    Need proof?

Carole Borges wrote, “That’s a debatable point as most gun related incidents tend to be. Who is to say what would have happened if Lump didn’t have a weapon? Yesterday I saw on TV that a little girl faced with an armed robber at her mother’s store screamed and yelled at him and he fled.”

There you have it. You don’t need a gun. Just yell at them and they will flee.

Case closed. You don’t need guns. Thank God for the teachers. /extreme sarcasm

  15. Cactus Jack Says:

I’ll say one thing for people like R. Neal and now Carole Borges, they aint shy about advertising what total morons they are. That’s about the closest thing to honesty that they’ll ever know.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
