A glimmer of hope
California governors would be barred from ordering the seizure of firearms and ammunition from law-abiding citizens during state emergencies, under legislation that was sent to Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger on Wednesday.
No shit? Of course, the state of California has no issue seizing arms when there is no emergency.

I’d agree, except that they just passed the micro stamping deal in the legislature, and now it goes on to the governator.

Well, if the microstamping bill gets signed then look on the bright side: five years from now we’ll be able to say “See? We *told* you it wouldn’t work worth a damn! And here’s how much it cost: …”
Not much of a bright side, I admit.

But they’ll be able to counter” It’s not our fault, the gun pushers only care about profits. They wouldn’t work w/ us.”

So the governors cannot order the seizure, but what about local sheriffs? Those guys are basically minor warlords for each of their various districts, so what is going to stop them?
Unfortunately, both the microstamping bill passed legislature, and the lead-ban bill did as well (though I know a lot less about the latter). I am just waiting for California to try and legislate for lower wind resistance on their highways to improve gas mileages… It would be about as effective.

All the governor has to do is declare “all private gun owners are criminals” and poof, all protection is gone.
Linoge is right, all Kali sheriffs are cowboys by law.
Bottom line is, who would enforce the law against the governor, sheriffs, local PD’s, mayors or any other minor official in a funny hat? Attorney General Moonbeam Brown? He wants to sue Kali cities for Global Warmining! That idiot.
