So, read / view the ads google puts above your e-mail or not, google is still parsing your e-mail and logging the information about the keywords in your e-mail.
hey, 2004 called. They want their creepy feeling back.
Did it really take tgirsch three years to notice the ads were picked after the google-bot scanned his very personal emails? Google does some other creepy shit too, like log all your search terms, keep an archive of all the newsgroups (you remember newsgroups, right?)
Ever look at the satellite photos of your favorite placed in Google maps? Do you think google does not keep a record of all the places you zoomed all the way into?
You do know that Google owns YouTube too, right, Google owns Blogger too.
Now here’s my favorite quote from over there:

Wait, you mean that Google isn’t spending huge amounts of money providing free e-mail to people just to get a warm fuzzy feeling? *GASP*
Now if Google were to buy a bunch of “dark fiber”, and start routing internet traffic, they’d get an even better idea of what everyone was doing on teh interw3bz.

Hmm, maybe I should have softened that up. I have no idea if he’s been using Gmail since the launch three years ago.
Sorry.
