Waiting periods
Good question. Also, makes me wonder why I have to go through background checks every time I buy a gun even though I have several and have a license to carry one.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.

Michigan has an agreement with the Feds that recent CPL holders can avoid the checks. Makes sense to me, that when you’re standing at the counter with a loaded handgun on your hip, you shouldn’t need a fed check to buy a .22 rifle.

I dunno.
While I agree, a waiting period for someone who already owns guns is silly, I don’t think skipping the background check is a good idea.
A person’s lawful status can change, after all.

Here in Utah a CCW license is all you need; they just check to make certain it has not been revoked, and that only takes a few minutes.

Bob, same thing here in the Sunshine State. My last 3 firearms took all of 5 minutes with the check (which I still get nervous about, and I have no idea why).
But still, if you already own firearms, why would you need a cooling off period? Granted how you would prove you already own some in the first place, I don’t know.

Georgia is the same way. If you have the CCW (and it is still valid) you get to bypass the regular background check. They changed that law a while back to make everyone go through the background check and people got upset so they re-fixed it. I love making up words.

Because a good politician never sees a constituent problem that can’t be turned into a revenue enhancement, without solving the problem.
