I’m not going to sign up for HuffPo just to leave a comment, but I was especially taken by this:
I’m ready to stick my neck way out here and say that I find it incomprehensible and disgraceful that this sad history should have been allowed to repeat itself yet again in a country that suffers the evident delusion of being civilized.
Apparently he’s never seen Trefor Thomas’s Usenet sigline:
“To be civilized is to restrain the ability to commit mayhem.
To be incapable of committing mayhem is not the mark of the civilized,
merely the domesticated. ”
It would seem that the author is happily domesticated, and disturbed by the idea that he lives in a pen awaiting slaughter.
The Dalai Lama: “If someone has a gun and is trying to kill you, it would be reasonable to shoot back with your own gun.” (May 15, 2001, The Seattle Times)
The gun haters have it backwards. Guns will go away when the need for them goes away. Trying to make the guns go away first just makes things worse. – DrMichaelSBrown
Would it be insensitive to suggest that Mr. Clothier provide his bona fides as a Bhuddist in the manner of Bhuddist monks during the Viet Nam War? You know, self-immolation.
Hey, I think he should prove his commitment, before trying to deprive others of their right to defend their lives and liberty. Don’t you all?
