Big words
Speaking of Rivrdog, he says I shouldn’t use proper terminology when addressing gun issues because, frankly, your average non-gun person is too ignorant to grasp what I’m getting at. I dunno about your average person but your average reporter definitely is.

Hence the need for a good glossary/definition of terms.
(For example, “Assault Rifle” is understood by many specialists to be Full-Auto and/or Select Fire. By common usage in the media, “Assault Rifle” is now anything semi-auto which is based on a military design. The descriptions of Kalashnikov-style rifles are especially troubled by this. Most civilian-legal AK-style rifles are semi-auto only, unless the owner has a Class III permit and has one registered before ’86. Yet it is far too easy to confuse the civilian-legal AK with the full-auto AK.)
