Civilian Disarmament in Argentina
What could possibly go wrong?
70,000 guns destroyed. But only 50,000 rounds of ammo? Hmmm.

It says there are 1.2m guns in the country, so 94% remain unregistered and unlicensed in the hands of the people. I have a few I would sell for $150 – to fund better ones of course…

from the link:
So that’s roughly thirty thousand, two hundred negligent discharges that manage to accidentally kill people (as opposed to near misses and gunshots that merely wound) per year?
Is that many even possible in a country of only 40 million? One death per 9372 people, per year in negligent shootings?

This really makes me ill.
Why can’t the Argentine government sell the guns to an American arms dealer for distribution and sale here.
What a waste.
Think of all those old Colt Argentina Model 1911A1s.
Argentina could even give the weapons to the Christians in Darfur, where they would be put to good use.

“Gun accidents have been a leading cause of death in Argentina, killing a total of 32,000 people since 1997.”
I find this hard to believe. No, impossible to believe. They expect folks to believe that auto accidents, drownings, falls, heart attacks, strokes, etc. pale in comparison to firearm accidents as a cause of death in Argentina? Bullshit.
